Product Description

The Ultipulse UP3240 is a high-performance OTDR designed for precise testing of single-mode optical fibers at 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths. With its enhanced dynamic range (42/40 dB), it is perfectly suited for long-distance links, core networks, and professional-grade installations requiring detailed diagnostics and clean signal analysis.

Like all models in the UP32xx series, the UP3240 combines powerful functionality with a user-friendly experience. Its 7” TFT touchscreen offers intuitive navigation for both experienced technicians and newcomers to fiber optics.

The automatic testing mode enables users to initiate a measurement with a single action – the device handles parameter selection and delivers a pass/fail evaluation based on transmission quality. This speeds up diagnostics while ensuring accuracy.

One of the standout features of the UP3240 is the ability to generate PDF reports directly on the device, without the need for a PC or external software. This is ideal for technicians working in the field who need fast documentation.

The UP3240 also provides a graphical event map, which visualizes the fiber path and identifies events such as splices, reflections, or faults. Combined with traditional OTDR trace views, this allows for quicker interpretation and troubleshooting.

Additional key features include:

  • A 10mW Visual Fault Locator (VFL) for detecting breaks, bends, and splicing errors.

  • A built-in optical power meter and light source, which can be used simultaneously for insertion loss testing or remote signal level measurement.

  • Comprehensive Ethernet testing, including cable tracing, wire map, cable length checks, subnet scanning, PING, PPPoE login, and speed verification – ideal for FTTx and structured cabling environments.

  • Optional fiber inspection microscope for direct ferrule end-face inspection.
